General Rules
- This talent search competition, KiwiNoy Huwaw Factor 2024 (KHF2024) is open to persons of Filipino descent, ALL ages welcome.
- Members of Council of Auckland Philippine Organisation, Inc (CAPO, Inc) are not permitted to participate. None of the judges’ immediate family may participate. Contestants under the age of 18 years old may participate ONLY with the consent of their parent or guardian who must evidence such consent on the application form.
- Contestants must be amateur performers and do not belong to any professional organisation(s) connected with the music/entertainment industry.
- Entries for the contest must be received by the talent search Co-ordinator, Kookie G Samin by 31 August 2024 no later than 5:00PM for scheduling ease. - Each entry must be accompanied by a $50.00 (solo) and $100 (group) non-refundable application fee. Online payments can be made out to Capo, Inc BNZ Acct#: 02-0232-0000341-00 on or before 31 August 2024. Non submission of application forms and fees on time may result on non-acceptance to the competition.
- CAPO Inc has the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility. Failure to provide such proof within a reasonable time could result in disqualification from the competition. All personal details and information requested by CAPO Inc from each contestant must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading. CAPO Inc reserves the right to disqualify any contestant from the competition or auditioning process in its sole discretion, should the contestant at any stage proved to have supplied untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information or should the contestant be ineligible for the competition pursuant to these rules.
- Each contestant represents and warrants his/her compliance with these rules and regulations by submission of an application and entering this competition. * No contestant will be permitted to audition unless he/she has acknowledged and agreed to these rules and regulations. *
- By entering, each contestant agrees /consents that CAPO, Inc and their representatives have the right to use their names, likenesses, and images of all persons performing for future advertising, promotion and publicity in any manner and in any medium now known or hereafter devised in perpetuity.
- By participating in this competition, contestants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges. CAPO, Inc. is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
Audition and Performance
*Auditions will take place ONLY if we exceed the number of applications submitted by date of deadline. Auditions will be held in Auckland and audition dates to be advised in due time (depending on the number of entries received).* Information regarding the location of performances will be available at the CAPO Inc FB page Pistang Pilipino sa Auckland 2024.
- A contestant may perform any Filipino themed music, dance or any solo or group act/performances that showcases our rich Philippine arts, culture and heritage. Any fusion, bi-cultural display of talent will be permitted as long as it is majorly, Philippine-inspired and culturally themed.
- Contestants doing solo performances are NOT allowed to utilize back-up singers. Non-human props such as musical instruments i.e guitars/keyboard, etc. Costumes and other accessories are permitted.
- Contestants must supply their own background tracks on a single CD or USB which is properly labelled with the respective names of their owners. Background music must be free of background singers, only musical band instruments are acceptable. If playing/using any musical instrument, the contestant must provide their own guitar (or keyboard) and other instruments during their performance. NO musical instruments will be provided by CAPO, Inc. Under no circumstances is CAPO Inc and its competition representatives responsible in any way if any contestants fail to submit their musical material to our technical team in advance.
- Contestants are not permitted to leave the stage or stage area during their performance. This includes singing or performing within the audience.
- The time limit for each contestant is 90 seconds *this has been amended. Solo is 2:30 mins Group is 3:00 mins. . The counter will start from the time the music, or the display of talent begins. Only one song may be sung within the allocated time. NO changing of CD’s will be allowed.
- Contestants may use the *same song /music of another solo or group contestant but may be advised if song will be sung/used already in case an alternative choice is available. (*Only applies if talent is singing)
- NO changes in song choice may be made once the contestant has delivered the background CD to the sound tech/person. CDs/USBs must be given to the talent search co-ordinator or sound tech/person during the allowable time for the final “Sound Check” on the performance night prior to the competition. Changes without prior approval from the talent search organisers could forfeit your turn and possibly be disqualified. For the sake of the other contestants and keeping the flow of the contest in order, punctuality and promptness is required.
- Songs/Music containing vulgar or explicit sexual lyrics will NOT be allowed. Contestants who during their performance, use any obscene, offensive, sexual or otherwise inappropriate behaviour or gestures, including without limitation those referencing or depicting violence, nudity or explicit activity - or which are not in the spirit of the contest or do not meet CAPO Inc standards for any reason, as determined by CAPO Inc will be disqualified from the competition.
- Contestants and their families are not allowed to have contact with any contest judge before or during the competition. Contact includes verbal conversations and handshakes.
- Contestants, and/or their family or associates who exhibit offensive behaviour during any portion of the contest may result in the disqualification of that contestant from further competition. Offensive behaviour includes poor sportsmanship, bad manners, and lack of modesty.
- The order in which each contestant competes during the competition night shall be determined by random drawing and will be announced ahead of time. Contestants must be prepared in case there is a tie, a face-off battle may take place thus another act/performance or another song/music may be required in a separate CD/USB or if playing with a chosen musical instrument. (*Contestants MAY NOT repeat a song they have previously sung in their audition* if any audition is necessary). The same rules & regulations apply both in the auditions and on the competition night.
Judging
Contestants will be scored using a 100-point system:
- Talent (culturally themed-Philippine inspired): 1-40 points
- Creativity/Originality (uniqueness): 1-20 points
- Showmanship (stage presence/confidence/command): 1-20 points
- Costume (themed attire/proper and fitting for the performance): 1-10 points
- Audience impact (appearance/appeal): 1-10 points
All decisions and interpretations regarding the competition, its rules, and the selection of the winner remain with the judges, CAPO Inc and its representatives, and are final.
Prizes
The talent Winner will receive $1000.00 Cash (solo) and for group ($2000) (*The talent winner may have a chance to perform on Sunday, 27 Oct 2024 during the pageant night).
The winner will be selected, and then announced, immediately following the finals of the contest and after the scores has been calculated, tallied and verified by the score officials.
N.B.
Should there be few numbers of applications received by the nominated deadline on 31 August 2024, auditions MAY NOT be required, and all contestants will automatically be competing on 26 October 2024, Saturday, solo and group.
